Refrigerator

2021:
My family decided to buy a new fridge that was functional and my mom bought a 10-year warranty for it. Rats made sure to damage the tubes connecting the new refrigerator. Here’s a picture of our new refrigerator, which does not have a crack or issues. Basically, this is what the insides of a “new” fridge should look like. This is important to note because the one the landlord put in our home for us to use was intended to harm us.

2020:
One day I decided to clean the refrigerator because the food inside smelt strange. I noticed a giant crack, and upon research, the refrigerator had been leaking Freon. Here is a note that I wrote and put on the fridge for my family.

2015:
In my letter addressed to the new homeowner about issues relating to the house, the refrigerator was mentioned. I wrote that the old refrigerator was not cooling. As a result of my letter the homeowner eventually switched out the refrigerator. Of course, rats immediately damaged the tubes connecting the unit, as the kitchen is their territory.

2014:
I joined my family at my home of record in 2014 and ended up cleaning pounds of rat excrement out of the kitchen. It was not an easy task to clean out the old white cupboard because it was very tall, heavy, and had huge roach nests.

After taking the white cupboard apart, cleaning it, labeling it, and adding shelf liners, I moved it a few feet from its original location. I also pulled the refrigerator out from its nook between the wall and cabinets. After I removed the pounds of rat excrement from the kitchen, scrubbed layers of dirt off the tiles, and slightly rearranged the furniture, I believed I was finished.

However, the “others” who allowed this mess to accumulate decided to swap the positions of the white cupboard and the fridge. They placed the white cupboard, which I intended to use as a pantry, where the rats used to run under the AC vent. This blocked access to the AC vent and rendered the pantry useless.

The spot where I had initially placed the pantry (white cupboard) was directly under the light in an open space. If the cupboard was left where I put it, we would have had access to all the shelves and the space for the microwave.

Perhaps the “others” did not want more space in the kitchen or a functional pantry. Whatever the reason for moving what I had already moved, the old dying refrigerator went unnoticed, and I greatly resent people who do not appreciate my efforts.

I was utterly disgusted and disappointed to have had to travel all this way just to handle rat excrement, especially in a house where I was not welcomed. Moreover, pushing the heavy cupboard and fridge was physically challenging for me to do.
