2019-2023 Summary
The landlord’s failure to patch or replace the ventilation tubes in 2015 allowed roof debris and rat feces to continuously enter the central unit. This caused sludge to build inside the unit, created from the debris, preventing it from removing moisture out of the air. Moisture combined with warm air built up around the vents, therefore causing the growth of mold.
This failure of landlord responsibilities didn’t only cause me a significant amount of stress but it also meant the unit failed to work as intended for 9 years before completely stopping.
This failure not only resulted in mold and moisture which softened walls and everything mold grew on, but it also caused health issues for those who slept under vents in the house.
Think about sleeping under air that’s full of fungal spores, rat feces, and roof debris, because this is what we dealt with consistently over the last 9 years.
After attempts to mediate through the inspector general, the AC unit was replaced in April 2023 however vent tubes, vent issues, and debris flowing into vent tubes were not addressed. Because these issues were not addressed, a working unit meant pounds of rat feces blowing into our faces and making us sick.

2022 December:
I took action by cleaning the AC, buying pee pads, a UVC light, and a $53 filter. This task took about a month. The blue stuff in the bucket is toilet tablets, which is what I used to handle the mold growing on this water. Since 2018, I have tried many things to handle the leaking pipes including using my own plumber’s tape, adding plastic to the closet floor, and a ton of shenanigans to absorb the leaking. The yellow “tint” is grease from the dirty air coming out of the unit which soaked into the floor and the plastic I put on the closet ground.

2022 November:
I wrote a letter in 2015 and I was told it’s being handled in 2019, so why would I assume there was an issue? The AC had been an issue, so around this time, I started to investigate the issue. I found the AC unit covered in mold. Because the unit is in our bedroom where myself and my daughter slept, we were 1 foot away from this mold. By November 2022 this unit which had been running consistently “on” with out stop, and with out moving air had stopped working.

2022 April:
The string coming down from the vent in this picture was to test if air came out of it. There wasn’t much air just a lot of mold. I tried to do what I could by unscrewing the vent covers, bleaching them out, and putting a vent cloth over them. It was visually apparent that the vents leaked water and mold grew on the ceiling around the cover.

2020:
I found water drops on my TV and PS4. My PS4 stopped working because water soaked into it. The water came from the vent which is right above all my electronics. When I opened up my PS4 to investigate, I found the inside damaged and rusted from moisture. I didn’t know how long the vent had been leaking water on my electronics.
2019 November:
The AC had been giving consistent issues. In fact, at this time it was consistently on. When I returned from Germany I noticed all the vents closest to the inside/central unit turned black and had some sort of black sludge growing out of them. When I asked my mother about it, she insisted it was from moisture and she claimed the landlord said he would come look at it. Since the matter seemed to have the highest authority on house matters investigating, I didn’t bother to invest my energy at that time. I ignored the black sludge because I assumed everyone knew what they were doing and the landlord had it under control.
My mother’s feet picked up fungus which she tried to get treated by her doctor, but the situation consistently got worse. It wasn’t apparent that mold spores were coming directly from the vent to her feet. Considering she was showering every day, I got her new shoes and socks, but nothing changed her condition.
2019 April:
I needed help with the rat and roach poop situation so I called my friend from Germany to help sort out two bedrooms in my home at Douglas St. Together we cleaned the vents, floors, and a lot of things. I also unpacked my belongings from the storage boxes that sat in the house since 2018. I hooked up my TV, PS4 and set up my couch.
2018:
Ever since I moved down here my things stayed in storage from 2014 to 2018. The price kept going up for the storage unit every year, so I got my stuff out of storage when it got to $200 monthly. I had the “others” nail a metal plate on the bedroom doors to prevent rats from entering. As for the 3 rats that were in the room, I picked the first one up by its tail and smashed its body into the concrete on the back patio. I had much anger for the damage they’ve caused and the amount of cleaning I had to do. Since holding rats by their tails and smashing their bodies on concrete was a bit psychopathic I decided instead to throw them into the garbage receptacle outside the house while they were alive, which was what I did to the other two I picked up.
Who needs a cat when you can catch mice on your own, am I right?
Conclusion 2018, rats tormented me and pooped on my possessions until I did something about them.
2015 July:
At this moment in 2015, since the “tenting” failed and no one bothered to put up barriers against the pests, I became very upset. I wrote a letter to the landlord outlining the various issues. Issues such as the refrigerator, the washer and dryer being outside, the AC vent issue, etc. Now, while I assumed my job as a concerned citizen was done, I don’t know if the words I wrote in my letter made it to the landlord’s brain, but I did stamp it and put it in the mailbox so it should have at least reached his office.

2015 April:
One day I noticed my shoulder blades covered in boils. I was wearing a tank top which exposed my shoulder blades to the chair I sat on. My chair was exactly under the AC vent. After recognizing the issue I thought the vent needed cleaning by a specialist. So I contacted a local ventilation cleaner. When we opened the vent over my chair we found rat feces and debris from the roof insulation. Over all the vent did not appear to be dirty or covered in mold at this time. The specialist refused to continue checking the other vents because we found that the ventilation tubes had “holes”. He said these holes need to be patched before he can properly clean the system. I’m not the homeowner, thus, I did not have the authority to hire someone to patch the ventilation tubes. I told my mother about this issue and expected her to pass on the information to the “others”.
2015 March:
My YouTube video with the rat in my bedroom at the time led to the “tenting” of our home at Douglas St. in March 2015. My family lost 30% of their possessions when this happened because my mother was instructed to remove specific items out of the house before the tenting. She stored those items in the storage shed at the back of the house which is prone to mold.
Unfortunately, within 2 weeks the pests returned. They came from holes around the foundation. There is a sinkhole under the house which always existed. Remember how Mr.Cousin dug around the foundation of the house? This made the soil very soft. Soft soil at the house’s foundation is bad because of ants. Ants love to borrow into soft soil, which they did to our home, and when it rained, it flooded. That flood water soaked into the loose soil and into the walls. Our home thus suffered water-damaged walls and flooding. What does soft walls mean for pests? Well, it means they have an opportunity to claw and borrow their way into the empty space under the house. They can therefore get into the walls and up into the attic.
2014 October:
I made a complaint via YouTube and Yelp about the “rat situation” on October 1st, 2014. Regardless of how much I cleaned after I returned to this house, I had not been able to scare away pests. So, instead, I recorded one of the rats running around the bedroom I bunked in with my daughter and sister.
2014:
Napoli Assets LLC acquired the house and apparently put in a new AC unit at the back of the house. The unit was extremely loud and I wondered how the neighbors could put up with that noise. When the AC turned on the entire backyard and house shook from the loud vibrations of the external unit.
Does this mean the AC worked as intended?
At this point, I believe it did work because the weather outside the house was not affecting the temperature inside.
Mr.Cousin is up to some shady business around the house:
From the moment Napoli Assets LLC took our home he had the same guy come over to look at things. Let’s call him Mr.Cousin because I believe Napoli Assets LLC was too cheap to hire a professional to come look at things. Mr.Cousin had a recurring routine of visiting the house, digging around the foundation, and spraying for pests. I thought this was stupid because we get hurricanes, therefore floods, so we don’t need loose soil around the house. I also thought if the enemy are pests, why not install a mesh door, mesh on the windows, and fix up the back patio? Obviously, pests enter where barriers don’t exist.
2004-2014:
Over 10 years the summers were really hot while the winters were very cold inside the house. It was so hot inside we often let out our steam by being overly loud. Was the AC working properly? It was pushing out air and that air did have fungal spores. Between the roaches and the dirty air, it was a challenge to keep the house clean.
